Case Erector
400 Series
Hot Melt Adhesive or Tape Sealing
These workhorse case erectors are an industry standard, proving themselves every day on production lines in many applications. They automatically erect and bottom seal cases, ensuring a consistent feed to the production line. Quick changeover, wide case range, low maintenance, and always better cases.
Powerful and Versatile All-around Case Erector
For consistent case forming every shift, you need machines built for the job–and these erectors deliver. Inside their heavy grade steel frames are continuous motion drives that provide maximum reliability for 3-shift a day production. With rock solid construction and multiple features to accommodate poor corrugated, these case erectors are workhorse solutions for the packaging line.
- Erect and seal cases to 40 cpm
- Low level magazine- load KDs with no lifting
- Walking beam transfer squares cases as they travel
- 5 minute changeover
- Designed to run out-of-spec corrugated, warped KDs, and high recycled content cases
Offered in three models for tape and hot melt sealing, our standard models are fully loaded and an extensive range of options are available to suit custom requirements.
Key Features That Benefit Your Production

Intelligent machine control simplifies setup and diagnostics
Operation is simple and repeatable for quick operator proficiency. At the touchscreen, you control all functions, diagnostics, and changeover settings following clear, step-by-step sequences. Real-time operating data is available at a glance.
Non-contact sensors monitor machine functions and ensure precise timing of each operating sequence. Troubleshooting at the control console is straightforward, with simplified drill-down to sensor level for immediate fault detection and quick resolution.

Low-level magazine eliminates lifting and extends time between refills
No more lifting heavy cases! This ergonomic, floor level magazine eliminates a potential source of liability found in mid and high level magazines.
The standard high capacity magazine holds three stacks of knockdown (KD) cases (approx. 300 KDs), giving your attendant more time between refills. Stacks feed automatically and KDs can be added at any time.
Magazine extensions are available for added KD capacity to allow more time between refills.

Top feed magazine accommodates warped and band-marked corrugated blanks
Cases are lifted from the top of the stack by dual, spring-loaded grippers that are forgiving to inherent case variations. The grippers independently adjust to lift KDs from uneven stacks caused by warped or band-marked KDs and provide smooth transfer to the opening station.
The horizontal, top feed magazine eliminates issues of back pressure that can cause misfeeding in vertically stacked magazines.

Square cases start with total case control
At the opening station, pneumatic grippers secure cases from below. Meanwhile, the mechanical, reciprocating arm lowers and “over-opens” cases on the major flap to ensure successful minor flap closing of the bottom flaps. This system runs corrugated with out-of-spec manufacturer’s joints. This dual-gripper action system also positively opens doublewall cases.
A-B-C’s vacuum opening technology smoothly opens even warped and bent cases, unlike pin-style openers which require straight corrugated flutes for proper operation. An automatic blowback system keeps air lines clean.

Multiple features ensure consistently square cases
The walking beam case transfer is powered by the mechanical, continuous motion machine drive. It provides smooth case transport and keeps the case square as it moves from opening to sealing.
The adhesive sealing compression mandrel is built with opposing stationary lugs that square cases as they are sealed. Soft-glide compression ensures secure glue sealing with less stress. The high speed 400HS model utilizes a servo-operated sealing ram.
Tape-sealed cases are squared by upper and lower transfer belts throughout tape application.
Hands-off operation includes line monitoring and auto response
The erector automatically senses and adjusts to changes in your line speed to prevent backups if there are slowdowns upstream on the line. The erector immediately returning to line speed once cleared.

Supplying a continuous flow of cases to your packaging line
All standard 400 erectors include a heavy-duty, adjustable discharge chute. This device uprights cases as they exit the machine to the line conveyor, delivering a constant supply of square, well-sealed cases, oriented for efficient transfer to the packing station.

Minimize downtime with rapid case changeover
Changeover for the complete range of case sizes can easily be done in minutes with no tools.* Adjustment settings utilize rapid adjust hand cranks and slides with locking handles.
* With the exception of the sealing mandrel on the hot melt models for major size changes.
